Check out this awesome bright red double-decker bus that does push-ups with a pair of giant robot arms!

Czech artist David Černý purchased the traditional 1957 London bus in the Netherlands and modified it by attaching two huge muscular arms powered by an electrical engine and lots of wiring and suspension tools that push the vehicle up and down. The exercizes are accompanied by the recording of sounds evoking intense physical exertion.

Entitled London Boosted, this buff robot bus will be parked outside the Czech Olympic headquarters in London’s Islington neighbourhood for the duration of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Visit The Presurfer to watch video of the bus in action.

Do you ever have those days when you just feel like you’re in a funk? You just can’t shake those heavy, sinking feelings? Maybe you’re feeling stressed, empty, scared or stuck. In essence, you just don’t feel like yourself.

As a way to improve mental health in Canada, Blok Design worked with Partners for Mental Health to come up with a way to draw people into a conversation, encouraging an open dialogue. Using bright colors that represented a spectrum of moods, they got people on the street to, literally, wear their emotions on their sleeves.

What a great idea for you to reflect on your emotions.

Arthur Mole’s Extraordinary Mass Photograph via designyoutrust

Almost a century ago and without the aid of any pixel-generating computer software, the itinerant photographer Arthur Mole (1889-1983) used his 11 x 14-inch view camera to stage a series of extraordinary mass photographic spectacles that choreographed living bodies into symbolic formations of religious and national community. In these mass ornaments, thousands of military troops and other groups were arranged artfully to form American patriotic symbols, emblems, and military insignia visible from a bird’s eye perspective. During World War I, these military formations came to serve as rallying points to support American involvement in the war and to ward off isolationist tendencies.
